The Comic Panel: Green Lantern Hal Jordan is usually portrayed as the fool to Batman’s genius, but this was his comic (and return from the grave), so Jordan had the upper hand and right hook this time.
Big Screen Version: Green Lantern needs a chance to come out on top at least once. Batman had better watch out if they ever team up.
Avengers vs X-Men #11
The Comic Panel: This was really the end of an era for the X-Men. Cyclops, driven from the path towards peace between humans and mutants, and corrupted by the power of the Phoenix, lashes out and kills his mentor and father figure, Xavier.
Big Screen Version: On screen, the X-Men have always been portrayed as a unit. This is an act that could splinter them apart for future films.
X-Factor #45
The Comic Panel: After years of hinting at something more than friendship, Rictor greeted his teammate Shatterstar’s return with a surprise kiss. Strong Guy certainly did not see it coming.
Big Screen Version: Comics have embraced gay characters in recent years, but superhero movies are yet to catch up. With Fox planning to expand the X-Men franchise, there is plenty of room to introduce Rictor and Shatterstar to cinemagoers.
Superman #75
The Comic Panel: After defeating the seemingly unstoppable, utterly characterless villain Doomsday, Superman succumbs to his wounds and dies in the arms of his wife Lois Lane. He was back up and running in short order, of course.
Big Screen Version: We know it seems like we are trying to kill off the entire Justice League, but maintain that Superman’s death would be a great climax to the Man of Steel sequel. A follow up movie could see Wonder Woman and Batman dealing with the death before his inevitable return.
Batman #656
The Comic Panel: Batman comes face-to-face for the first time with Damian Wayne, his secret child with Talia al Ghul.
Big Screen Version: At lot of fans were unhappy with bratty Damian’s introduction, but he quickly became a popular character. It would be easy to introduce him from the past of the older, Ben Affleck Batman, and would introduce a chemistry not present in previous films. If they could find a child actor to pull it off...
Guardians of the Galaxy #25
The Comic Panel: Thanos has returned from the dead, mindless and angry. One of the Guardians is already dead at his hands. Only the powerless hero Star-Lord and his broken Cosmic Cube can stand in the way of his mad rampage.
Big Screen Version: Star-Lord and Thanos have been confirmed for the Guardians of the Galaxy film in the summer.
With the differences in their power levels, not much short of a Cube will help Chris Pratt’s hero against the villain should they confront each other.
Blackest Night #5
The Comic Panel: At the climax of the Blackest Night storyline - in which the were rising across the universe - some of DC’s greatest superheroes were transformed into the living dead. Suddenly, the survivors were faced with a zombie Superman and Wonder Woman hungry for their hearts.
Big Screen Version: The popularity of superheroes is at an all-time high, and so is that of zombies. How long until the two get put together on the big screen?
Crisis on Infinite Earths #7
The Comic Panel: Supergirl is killed facing off against the Anti-Monitor in DC’s legendary crossover, dying in her cousin Superman’s arms.
Big Screen Version: Superman is the last of his race in the universe. Imagine giving him another Kryptonian just like him - a family member - only to take her away, Warner Bros could bring that fresh element of tragedy to Clark Kent in any of their future films.
House of M #7
The Comic Panel: Marvel’s reality warping event culminated in three words: “No more mutants.” Scarlet Witch decimated the mutant population and set the stage for a decade of X-Men storylines.
Big Screen Version: The Decimation would be a great way of adding some drama to the X-Men movieverse. And with Evan Peters portraying Quicksilver in Days of Future Past , can his twin sister Scarlet Witch be too far behind?
