Seth Rogen Officially Making Preacher TV Series

Breaking Bad writer Sam Catlin will serve as showrunner

US network AMC (the home of The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad ) has confirmed that the long rumoured Preacher series has officially gone into development .

Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg will serve as writers/producers on the show, which will be run day to day by Breaking Bad writer/producer Sam Catlin. There are no plans for Rogen to feature in front of the camera at present.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher ran between 1995 and 2000 (for 75 issues in total, perfect for a 5-6 season TV show, no?) and is the story of Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher who goes searching for God after being possessed by a creature of colossal power.

“This is amazing!” Rogen and Goldberg said. “We’ve tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we’re so psyched AMC is finally letting us. It is our favourite comic of all time, and we’re going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!”

“Steve Dillon and I are very happy to see Preacher being developed for TV, which seems a much more natural home for the story than a two-hour movie…” Ennis said. “Obviously it’s taken awhile, but Ken Levin along with Neal Moritz and his team refused to give up, long after the point when I myself grew sceptical, and their unrelenting enthusiasm for the project has gotten us where we need to be.”
