Another day, another Episode VII casting rumour, with Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o the latest name to be linked to the production.
According to THR , the star met with J.J. Abrams to read for a mystery role as recently as a couple of weeks ago, although (as always) details of the part have yet to be disclosed.
The rumour is that the part in question will cast Nyong’o as a distant descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, although how that will fit in with the general plot is anyone’s guess.
It is also thought that Nyong’o’s role is separate from the existing casting call for two male and female leads in their ‘20s, which seems to have been rumbling on for a while now.
Directed by Abrams, and starring Adam Driver as the villain of the piece, Star Wars: Episode VII will open in the UK on 18 December 2015.
