Boba Fett could be one of the Star Wars characters set to receive the spin-off treatment, with director Jon Schnepp claiming to have the inside track on Disney’s upcoming plans.
The Metalocalypse director was speaking to AMC Movie News when he was asked about the spin-off projects planned by Disney as part of its ongoing Star Wars strategy.
“One of them is Boba Fett,” claimed Schnepp. “It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”
Official confirmation of the spin-off plans was disseminated by Disney last February, when the studio confirmed it would be working on a number of standalone movies as well as the primary Star Wars series, to be continued with Episode VII.
Whether Schnepp is blowing hot air remains to be seen, but given the popularity of Boba Fett within the fandom, it’s certainly not an outlandish suggestion.
In the meantime, Star Wars: Episode VII will open in the UK on 18 December 2015.
