Best Prime Day gaming laptop deals 2025: everything to expect from this year's sale
Prime Day gaming laptop deals will return this summer
Amazon Prime Day gaming laptop deals will return at some point in July, and considering discounts have been fairly slow over the course of the year so far I'm holding out hope for bigger things in the summer. Both RTX 40-Series and RTX 50-Series devices are now fully cemented on the shelves, and while stores can be slow to drop price cuts day to day, these larger sales events can nudge things forward a little.
Last year's discounts dropped some excellent savings on higher-end RTX 4080 machines, though many of those rigs are now on the clearance shelves. That means some of the best value might be in open-box units this year, especially considering more expensive RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 machines aren't showing too much of a leap in native rendering performance.
I've been tracking Prime Day gaming laptop deals for more than five years now, but I also watch the prices of the best gaming laptops every week. That means I've been hands-on with the machines you need to watch (and avoid), but I also know how these retailers work. I'm rounding up everything I expect from 2025's sale just below.
What to expect from Prime Day gaming laptop deals in 2025
I'm optimistic for some heavier discounts in this year's Prime Day gaming laptop deals. These machines have been a little more resistant to discounts in 2025 so far, even RTX 40-Series devices aren't dropping their prices like they used to.
However, larger sales events can change all that. Last year's discounts brought us some of the lowest prices of the year of RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 rigs, and I'm expecting more of the same this summer.
Value is looking strongest in the high-end previous-generation ranges right now. RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 devices are still powerhouses even with the new RTX 50-Series GPUs on the shelves. These machines are also starting to enter clearance shelves these days, which could mean heavier savings.
If you're going all out on a new-generation device, I'd recommend watching the 2025 Razer Blade 16 and 2025 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18. These are two of the most powerful rigs I've tested so far (alongside the uber-expensive MSI Raider A18 HX), but they've got the price tags to match. I haven't seen too many discounts on these top-of-the-range devices so far, but Prime Day could well yield the first major savings.
If you don't need a full RTX 50-Series system, last year's Razer Blade 16 (2024) is also well worth keeping an eye on. This is still an impressive machine, and remains one of the best Razer laptops on the market right now. These rigs are a little more difficult to find, but open-box clearance events are going to be your best friends this summer.
Discounts haven't hit these newer machines all too often, but there are a few rigs that have seen their prices cut since release. The HP Omen Max 16, Alienware 16 Area-51, and Alienware 18 Area-51 are all ready to return to record-low rates over Prime Day, with final costs ranging from $2,399.99 to $3,299.99.
At a mid-range level, I'm going to be paying close attention to the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 and the 2024 version. The earlier model has been spotted as low as $1,249.99 in an RTX 4060 configuration in the last few months, but can be configured all the way up to an RTX 4090 if you're pushing the boat out. However, if you want to push past the RTX 4070 GPU class, you'll need to take a look at the RTX 5080-toting new release. This is a $3,000+ gaming laptop at MSRP, but it will only take $200 to nudge it under that threshold this summer.
At the budget end of the spectrum I'd recommend sticking close to the MSI Thin and Asus TUF A14. The former is regularly available for between $599 and $799 with an entry-level RTX 4050 or RTX 4060 GPU and is a firm favorite during larger sales events. The latter impressed me with its value last year and represents one of the best Asus gaming laptops for cost-efficiency in 2025. An RTX 5060 configuration comes in at around $1,500 at full price, but if it follows the pricing trajectory of previous years that could hit $1,199 - $1,299 over Prime Day.
FAQ
When will Amazon Prime Day gaming laptop deals start?
We're still waiting on exact dates, but Amazon has announced that its Prime Day sale will return in July this year. We often see these discounts landing in the first two weeks of the month, so keep your calendar free.
Do I need a Prime Membership to access Prime Day gaming laptop deals?
In order to make the most of the Prime Day gaming laptop deals, you'll need to have an Amazon Prime membership. Fortunately, there's a free trial available in both the US and UK for you to give the service a try risk-free ahead of the event. Through it, you'll have access to not only next-day delivery but also the company's coveted video service.
What's important to state, though, is that many other retailers will be vying for some attention of their own, as we generally see storefronts such as Dell, Walmart, and Best Buy (US) as well as Currys, Laptops Direct, Box and Argos (UK) getting in on the gaming laptop deals action.
Should you buy an RTX 50-Series gaming laptop on Prime Day?
Many gamers in the market for a new portable rig will be looking to this summer's Prime Day offers for their first round of discounts on 2025's RTX 50-Series releases. However, whether you should jump in for the upgrade this summer comes down to the machine you're using at the moment and how quickly you need to upgrade.
What are you using at the moment?
If you're already using an RTX 40-Series device you generally won't need to buy a new gaming laptop on Prime Day. This year's updates include very minor native rendering improvements, with tech largely focused in improving Nvidia's DLSS experience. While I have noticed more performance benefits in the cheaper RTX 5070 range, the leap isn't enough to justify a four-figure price tag by itself.
If you're still running an RTX 30-Series machine then your answer is less clear cut. Yes, 2025 gaming laptops are the best on the market right now, but because of the relatively small changes under the hood last year's RTX 40-Series offerings are packing much better value for money overall. These gaming laptops have had plenty more time on the shelves and are more likely to take higher discounts as a result. You might miss out on some features like high refresh rate OLEDs and multi-frame generation, but if you're going for bang for buck you don't need the latest releases.
How quickly do you need your gaming laptop?
If you can hold out until Black Friday you will, in all likeliness, find better prices on the shelves. The fall sales are a much bigger deal with heavier price drops and more widespread savings. On top of that, all of these gaming laptops will have spent much more time on the market and will themselves be more vulnerable to bigger discounts as well.
Of course, if your current rig falls apart as soon as you load up your favorite game then you'll benefit from the extra months with your gaming laptop.
Do gaming laptops go on sale on Amazon Prime Day?
They certainly do, but here's the kicker - I generally see the best deals off Amazon. In the US, Best Buy, Dell and Newegg have all traditionally offered a wider range of gaming laptop deals during Prime Day, and Amazon's own sales can feel a little underwhelming by contrast. If you're in the UK, I'd recommend watching Ebuyer, Currys, and Very.
