Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: The Big Preview – New developer access and hands-on with the iconic pirate revival pulls into harbor
The Big Preview | We take a deep dive beneath Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's waves, and crack open a bounty of access with Ubisoft
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced already feels historic, and we're not just talking about it being set in the Age of Piracy. Originally the fourth numbered entry in the series, Black Flag quickly became a firm fan-favorite thanks to its swashbuckling action and sunny (though sometimes viciously stormy) Caribbean-set open world. After the divisive Assassin's Creed 3, it felt like a real return to form.
Now, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is on the way July 9, and it's the first proper remake Ubisoft has done for the series (though there have been several remasters). What does such a lavish rework entail? We roll up our silk sleeves to go hands-on for ourselves across several hours, and talk to some of the Ubisoft developers who are getting the refreshed new game shipshape and ready for the high seas. Hoist sails, and stick with the crew as we crack the lid on this treasure trove. Land has been spotted, and it's looking like a paradise.

But, big changes still promise to make this a slicker experience, from a completely reworked combat system, upgraded parkour and movement, and even new characters and quest lines that promise to add a lot more.
"Old-school classic" or "the post-Shadows Assassin's Creed"?
