Don't like the look of Lego Pokemon? Try these rival sets instead (especially now they're going cheap)
There are some great deals on Mega's Pokemon kits
I can understand why Lego Pokemon hasn't gelled with some fans. While I'd argue that some deserve a spot on our list of the best Lego sets (like the adorable Lego Eevee), others… well, they've proven a little controversial. Did you know that there were some genuinely great alternatives, though?
Enter Mega. This Lego rival has been creating Pokemon sets for a long time, and you know what? They're pretty great, and reasonably priced. Especially today. There's currently a mega-sale on toys at Woot, and you can save a lot of cash on everything from plushies to the aforementioned Mega Pokemon sets. While some of the best toys are included in the lineup, my eyes were drawn to these blocky versions of the pocket monsters; they're boasting some of the biggest reductions.
So, which ones should you get? I've listed a few of my favorites from the sale below.
This adorable pair currently aren't available in Lego form, so the Mega Blocks alternative (which are smaller, more posable figures) fills a niche. Its average cost on Amazon is closer to $18, so this is a pretty great saving.
This kit doesn't just look the part; it bobs up and down thanks to a crank on the side. It's more commonly $23ish at Amazon, so that $10 discount is working pretty hard here on Woot.
It's a very small saving, but I'll take it for a Pikachu that's this adorable. Zubat being thrown in for good measure feels like a happy bonus.
I know it's early to start thinking about the Holiday season, but if you wanted to get a kit to decorate your gaming space during the most magical time of the year, this is the deal to focus on.
Of course, there are plenty more offers where they came from. Just remember to be quick; these discounts may not last long.

I've been writing about games in one form or another since 2012, but these days you'll find me managing GamesRadar+'s tabletop gaming and toy coverage (I spend my time here handling everything from board game reviews to the latest Lego news). I've also been obsessed with Warhammer since the 1990s, and love nothing more than running tabletop RPGs like D&D as a Dungeon Master.
