The Power Rangers movie just cast the perfect Rita Repulsa

Get ready to do a karate kick for joy, '90s kids. The Hollywood Reporter claims the upcoming Power Rangers movie has its villain - or, more accurately, villainess. White-haired space witch Rita Repulsa is coming back to the big screen, and this time she'll be played by Elizabeth Banks.

If Banks' name doesn't ring a bell, you might remember her as Miri from Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Dr. Kim from Scrubs, or the voice of Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie. Personally, I think if Banks can combine the theatricality of her role as Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games with the snark and disdain of Gail from Pitch Perfect, we'll have a great Rita on our hands.

Of course, Rita wasn't the only force of evil the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers went up against. There was her husband, Lord Zedd, an army of lackeys led by Goldar, her brother Rito Revolto, her father Master Vile, and eventual usurper, Ivan Ooze. It's doubtful that more villains will show up in this reboot but, if you had your choice, who would you want at Rita's side?

Directed by Dean Israelite and starring Naomi Scott, Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, and Elizabeth Banks, the Power Rangers movie will be released in UK and US cinemas on January 13 2017.
