Man Of Steel and Kick-Ass 2 costumes revealed in close-up at Toy Fair

Our first look at Christopher Mintz-Plasse in costume as Kick-Ass 2 ’s impolitely-named bad guy, The Mother Fucker, has arrived, via Toy Fair 2013.

The huge showcase for the latest action figures and collectibles featured a host of characters that’ll be hitting movie screens this year, with Man Of Steel and Kick-Ass 2 among the notables.

The Kick-Ass 2 toys reveal our first proper look at Mintz-Plasse in his full get-up, having upgraded himself from Red Mist to The Mother Fucker in the time since the first film.

While it's in keeping with Red Mist’s colour scheme, there’s something particularly gimp-y about Mintz-Plasse’s outfit this time round, even in the not-usually-restrained field of supervillain cossies.

Meanwhile, Man Of Steel had a particularly strong showing, with close-up looks at the costumes of a handful of characters that have been curiously absent from the marketing materials released so far, including Michael Shannon’s General Zod, Antje Traue’s Faora and Russell Crowe’s Kryptonian father figure, Jor-El.

Zod and Faora’s costuming is particulary impressive when it comes to detailing, and presuming that the toys are based closely on their big-screen counterparts, they should look pretty spectacular in the finished film.

Exuding a tough, ‘sci-fi armour’ sort of vibe, they should provide considerable opposition for Henry Cavill’s Superman (who, naturally, has more that a few figures dedicated to his likeness). Obviously, figurines have been known to deviate from their movie inspirations, although with this lot it feels as though the resemblance is key: all of the faces look spot-on, and these are clearly collectors' items rather than sandpit-fodder.

Man Of Steel opens on 14 June 2013, with Kick-Ass 2 following on 19 July 2013.
