Each time we think we've heard it all when it comes to Jared Leto's creepy behaviour on the Suicide Squad set, the story gets a little more bizarre. In addition to dead pigs and live rats, it's now emerged that the actor sent his co-stars used condoms and anal beads.
The revelation comes to us by way of E! News, who spoke to the Suicide Squad cast while they were promoting the movie at CinemaCon. "He went full Joker" Will Smith said, adding "He really set the tone. He wasn't playing with it. He was dead serious as an actor. He was going in and he was 100 percent going into this character."
But there is a method to Leto's madness; "I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there", Leto noted. "The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries." No argument there...
For his part, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje - who plays Killer Croc in the film - noted that Leto's actions did eventually have a positive effect; "It was a good gift because it had the effect of unifying us as a group because then it became us against him. We sent the messenger back with the dead pig and our own personalized message. It got the ball rolling." I wouldn't want to be that messenger...
Will all this craziness pay off when Suicide Squad is finally released? Hopefully. Will this make for a fascinating Blu-Ray extra? Probably.
Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad will open in the UK and US on August 5, 2016.
