No Man's Sky Cosmos is the next big update as Hello Games refuses to slow down after 10 years
Right after The Swarm and Xeno Arena and…
A good 10 years ago now, Hello Games launched its hotly anticipated space game No Man's Sky – a launch that was shaky, to say the least… but every update since has helped bolster the 2016 title as a genre game rather than a forgettable disappointing experience.
Hello Games isn't done yet, either. A brand-new No Man's Sky update is underway again – a statement I feel I've now written some million times or so. Dubbed "Cosmos," it sounds as though it'll perhaps focus less on the terrestrial side of things and more on what's going on beyond each planet… but it's too early to tell for certain.
I'd love to see more focus on space travel, maybe, or some sort of emphasis on the game's current "ending."
Cosmos comes after various other No Man's Sky additions, like the big Xeno Arena update that dropped earlier this year, introducing a fun Pokemon and Palworld-esque creature battling system that fans had been requesting for nearly two years.
There was also Remnant, which came in February with a Garry's Mod-style gravity gun, and The Swarm update, which brought a bit of Helldivers 2 flair to the survival game's mix.
It serves as proof that Hello Games still has quite a bit under its belt for No Man's Sky, even a whole decade after its release… which, I suppose, isn't all that surprising anymore.
Here's hoping we get another 10 out of the survival game – I know I could enjoy another good decade of No Man's Sky shenanigans myself… and new update Cosmos might just be the prod back into the starry, unforgiving sky that I oh-so needed.

After spending years with her head in various fantastical realms' clouds, Anna studied English Literature and then Medieval History at the University of Edinburgh, going on to specialize in narrative design and video game journalism as a writer. She has written for various publications since her postgraduate studies, including Dexerto, Fanbyte, GameSpot, IGN, PCGamesN, and more. When she's not frantically trying to form words into coherent sentences, she's probably daydreaming about becoming a fairy druid and befriending every animal or she's spending a thousand (more) hours traversing the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3. If you spot her away from her PC, you'll always find Anna with a fantasy book, a handheld video game console of some sort, and a Tamagotchi or two on hand.
