Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was already the most-award Game of the Year of all time, and it's still extending its lead over Elden Ring and every other game in history with another big night at the annual DICE Awards (Design Innovate Communicate Entertain).
The French RPG previously snagged the record for most GOTY wins right out of Elden Ring's hands last month, if you count all honors given by award shows, such as The Game Awards and The Golden Joysticks, and the media, including magazines, radios, and websites (like this one here.) At the time, Expedition 33 had 436 GOTY trophies while Elden Ring came in second with 429 recorded wins.
Sandfall Interactive's debut game widened that gap a little further last night with another five wins at DICE - Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, Role-Playing Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Story, and Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction included.
It beat out the likes of Arc Raiders, Blue Prince, Dispatch, and Ghost of Yotei for the top honors. Other notable winners include South of Midnight's very deserved win for its gorgeous animation, Blue Prince's win for best game design, and three wins for Ghost of Yotei. I was also happy to see indies, such as Consume Me and Despelote, staying competitive in categories alongside AAA games rather than being sectioned off to indie-specific awards as they are at some shows.
Here are all the winners from the DICE Awards 2026:
- Outstanding Achievement in Animation - South of Midnight
- Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Outstanding Achievement in Character - Ghost of Yōtei (Atsu)
