It's not just you. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Gustave actor Charlie Cox also thinks the tragic lead looks like Batman actor Robert Pattinson. So much so, he reckons that developer Sandfall Interactive should get Pattinson to play the part in a movie – he'd still like to do the voice, though.
Given the chance to speak to Cox ahead of this year's BAFTA Games Awards, we ask whether he'd fancy revisiting the role of Gustave in any way should it be possible – obviously, certain events within the game itself make some scenarios trickier than others, ahem. Anyway, for Cox, he'd absolutely "love" to.
"My involvement with this, as minuscule as it was originally and how it's now expanded so much, has been nothing but an incredibly humbling and enjoyable experience," he tells us. "So, yeah, absolutely, yeah. I was thinking that they should probably – if they make the movie – they should get Robert Pattinson to play the part, and I should do the voice. Because then they would have pretty much the exact Gustave from the game."

You know what? Fair enough. Cox is hardly alone in thinking that. Since the J'RPG launched last year, the internet has been flooded with people making the same observation. It's entirely possible that someone at Sandfall Interactive threw a bit of R-Patz at Gustave, though I imagine it's more of a happy accident than anything. Who knows, the Batman actor may still get something out of it, as there is an official Clair Obscur movie in the works – just let Cox do the voice work.
The 2026 BAFTA Games Awards with Google Play took place yesterday at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall in jolly ol' London.

I joined GamesRadar+ in May 2022 following stints at PCGamesN and PocketGamer.Biz, with some freelance for Kotaku UK, RockPaperShotgun, and VG24/7 thrown in for good measure. When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
