The Duskbloods, FromSoftware's Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, will hold a closed network test this summer ahead of a still-unannounced launch later this year.
The Duskbloods made an extremely brief appearance during today's Nintendo Direct live show. A few environment and character shots – featuring the likes of Pajama Hammers and Magic Rat, as I've dubbed them – and some light narration leads us right into a simple closed network test reveal.
The test is "coming soon," the trailer description adds, and I'd certainly hope so with summer starting June 21. It's currently unclear how long the test will run, or how we'll be able to sign up to participate.
Notably absent was any trace of a release date. The Duskblood was one of the first games announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, a rare exclusive game for FromSoftware, yet we still don't know exactly when it's coming out.
The Duskbloods is an oddball in more ways than one, and it's come at a strange time for FromSoftware. After the monumental success of Elden Ring, the pinnacle of the dark fantasy action RPGs that the studio's become known for, we've seen the return of Armored Core in Armored Core 6, and the experimental multiplayer of Elden Ring: Nightreign. The Duskbloods, a PvPvE game of some sort, is in a similar space. This has left many fans wondering when the next full-fat, Dark Souls-style RPG will come along. (I wouldn't complain about a Bloodborne or Sekiro-adjacent single-player experience, either.)
The blurb on the new trailer reads: "Step into this new PvPvE multiplayer action game from FromSoftware, where you take on the role of a Bloodsworn. Fight through a world overrun with enemies using unique weapons and abilities, while occasionally forming transient alliances on your path to victory."
