We did encounter some satisfying exceptions. Tail Blazer is an imaginative adaptation of the Tron light cycle races. You race around a small arena, leaving solid and deadly exhaust trails behind you. Perhaps the only thing greater than perfectly encircling your foe and forcing him to crash is watching him get too fancy and accidentally wipe out in his own wake. Super Slam Dunk, meanwhile, successfully combines anti-gravity basketball with good old-fashioned brawling for control of said basketball. It's straightforward yet manages to inspire heated and curse-laden trash talk.
Both of these minigames are more indicative of what we like to see in our party fare, and their inclusion in Fusion Frenzy 2 gives us some hope for the final product... or at least the next entry in the series. Then again, the same $50 could buy you a lot of quality multiplayer titles over Xbox Live Arcade. We'll be sure to point you in the right direction when we get a final build of the game.
