Former WCW champ Goldberg confirmed for WWE 2K17

As we predicted in March, WCW legend Goldberg has been confirmed as part of the WWE 2K17 roster.

Two versions of the grizzled, goateed brawler will appear in the game, representing his 1997-2001 spell in WCW, and later (mildly disappointing) 2003-04 run in WWE. To celebrate the former, two classic WCW arenas are also included, in the shape of Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc.

“After 12 years away from the business, I’m incredibly honoured to work with WWE and 2K while following in the footsteps of such greats as Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Arnold Schwarzenegger,” says the big guy himself.

“My son was a big part of this coming together, and I can’t wait for him to see his dad kicking ass in a WWE ring through the magic of video games. I encountered the likes of The Rock, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Ric Flair during my WWE career, and now through WWE 2K17 I’ll be taking on the biggest and baddest Superstars of today – showing them once and for all that I am still ‘Da Man!’”

The catch? Like The Terminator last year and Sting the year before that, Goldberg is a pre-order exclusive. (Although will become widely available for purchase at a later date.)

In addition to Goldberg, we expect 16 other new names such as AJ Styles, Apollo Crews and Charlotte to be confirmed at a later date.

WWE 2K17 is released on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 this October.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
