This guide to everything new on Prime Video in April 2026 is dominated by one particular title. It's almost time for the release of the fifth and final season of the streamer's breakout superhero saga, The Boys. We're both thrilled and gutted to see the show reach its climax, and can't wait to see how it all plays out.
But if The Boys isn't for you, then don't worry: there's loads more films and shows arriving this month. It all kicks off with a massive movie drop on April 1, and the rest of the month is full of more great films and shows, like the new anime series Nippon Sangoku, which begins on April 5.

Picks of the month for April 2026
The Boys season 5
The final season of Prime Video's explosive adult superhero show is almost here! Homelander (Antony Starr) is reigning supreme, but Annie January (Erin Moriarty) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) are leading the fight back against the super-powered tyrant. Will they succeed? And what will this mean for the rest of the Supes?
The Boys has been an incredible success story since it launched in 2019, spawning multiple spin-offs and capturing the spirit of our turbulent times. This last batch of eight episodes looks like a suitably apocalyptic finale. It starts with a two-part premiere on April 8, before releasing weekly through late May. And if you're not quite ready to say goodbye to this universe, don't worry: a new spin-off, Vought Rising, is currently in production.
Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun
This looks like a very intriguing new anime. Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun is set 100 years into the future of Japan. In the show, the country has been divided by nuclear conflict, natural disasters, and violent revolution and now exists as three separate nations, each grappling for supremacy. Amid this chaos, a government official named Aoteru Misumi begins the fight for reunification, using his intellect and eloquence to try and bring peace to a conflict-ridden land.
Inspired by the popular manga Nippon Sangoku by Ikka Matsuki, this promises to be an exciting and provocative new series that will be rolling out weekly on Prime Video from April 5.
