The first teaser for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has arrived... and the gang's all here.
In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, Amy Rose's hammer is thrown up into the sky and shatters, releasing several gems that have various Sonic characters' faces on them. One of those faces belongs to none other than Dr. Ivo Robotnik (played once again by Jim Carrey), who definitely died towards the end of Sonic 3 (when he sacrifices himself to stop that cannon from destroying the earth). No complaints though: I'm happy to have that delightfully goofy bald man back.
The teaser also confirms that Amy Rose, following her brief saves-the-day appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, is indeed a main character in this installment, with Kristen Bell providing her voice.
The rest of the cast includes Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman, Richard Ayoade, and Keanu Reeves... who is doing the teaser's very ominous voiceover.

Jeff Fowler returns to direct from a screenplay from Pat Casey and Josh Miller. The billion-dollar film franchise is far from over by the way, as an untitled spin-off movie is slated for a 2028 release. The ongoing rumor right now is that it'll vocus solely on Reeves's Shadow.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for release on March 19, 2027. In the meantime, check out our picks for the best video game movies of all time, or, check out our list of movie release dates.
