Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 has unveiled its release date, with Netflix even dropping behind-the-scenes footage from the live-action adaptation's anticipated follow-up.
Avatar is officially set to return on June 25, but that's not all there is to get excited about. The practical recreation of Ba Sing Se, as you can see below, is just one way this season aims to surpass its predecessor.

"Once we got the back lot and we realized we could build Ba Sing Se … I probably cried that day. It was so exciting,” writer and executive producer Christine Boylan told Netflix's Tudum. "All of those buildings were real. We would go in there with our monitors. We would go in there and write."
As shown by the season 2 featurette, the major newcomer for Avatar: The Last Airbender is Toph, a blind earthbender played by Miya Cech. Toph's arrival in the Netflix series is big news, with the character standing out as one of the animated series' big fan favorites.
The Avatar season 1 ending concluded with the Fire Nation catching a glimpse of Sozin's Comet, an object of great importance that could be a portent of doom for Aang and his allies.
Over on the animated side, an animated Avatar Aang movie has wrapped production and is coming to Paramount Plus in October, though there remains disappointment over its planned theatrical release being scrapped.
Director Lauren Montgomery wrote on Instagram, "Aang movie is officially wrapped. We screened the final film for the crew and celebrated the end of a 4-year journey. Now it waits in limbo until its release in October. I’ve never worked on an Avatar project that was easy, and this was no different. But it was worth it. I’m so proud of everyone who was a part of this and the amazing thing we built together."
