Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, July 8 - 10. MIDA Multi-Tool!

Xur, Destiny’s weekend trader, galactically famed stunt-bike rider, and artisan crafter of many a fine Christmas bauble, is back. This week he’s over in the Tower, near the Speaker. He’s grumbling a bit about having ‘the out-of-the-way pitch’ again, but come on, Xur. Who’s your competition? The Cryptarch? Pah. Grow up, man.

Anyway, what’s he selling this week? A big load of crap in terms of armour, but by God, is that gun a good one.

• The Armamentarium (Exotic Titan Chest armour) - 13 SC
• Bones of Eao (Exotic Hunter Boots) - 13 SC
• Purifier Robes (Exotic Warlock Chest armour) - 13 SC
• MIDA Multi-Tool (Exotic Scout Rifle) - 23 Strange Coins
• Legacy Exotic Engram (Armour) - 29 SC

The Armamentarium, despite having a hell of a cool name, is a bit duff, only furnishing a second grenade for every charge. There are much better uses of your Exotic armour slot. The Bones of Eao are similarly pump, just adding an extra bounce to your double-jump. Sounds cool, but it’s not something you’ll find a lot of practical uses for. Again, better ways to use that Exotic slot. And the Purifier Robes aren’t much better. They just disorientate enemies when you self-revive using Radiance. If you’re looking for a Radiance-specific Exotic, there are much, much better options around. Heart of the Praxic Fire. As I seem to say every week, Heart of the Praxic goddamn Fire.

But the MIDA Multi-Tool. Oh sweet Jeezee, the MIDA Multi-Tool. If you’re looking for a beast of a PvP rifle, this is it. Relatively weak of impact, it makes up for that with a ridiculous rate of fire and near-instant reload speed. Most importantly though, it lets you use the radar while aiming down the sights, ///and/// gives you a significant speed boost at all times. In terms of upping your threat level and manoeuvrability, it’s a monster. And swinging back to those better options I was talking about earlier, if you’re a Hunter with the Radiant Dance Machines (which speed you up when scoped), then you can stack the effects to tear around the Crucible like a shoal of piranhas.

Downsides? Its perks don’t add much to PvE, but really, this is a multiplayer weapon through and through. If you buy it as that, you won’t be disappointed.

As ever, Xur is around until 10am UK/2 am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll be away to wherever he goes* for another week.

*A cheap whiskey bar. It’s always a cheap whiskey bar.
