The Chronicles of Narnia film franchise quickly went from treading dawn to treading water, and five years after its most recent entry it's finally set to return - kind of. Mark Gordon, the producer of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, told Collider that the adaptation of Narnia's fourth book is in active development, but that it won't be the fourth film in the franchise: The Silver Chair will be the start of its own Narnia movie line.
The Silver Chair takes place decades after The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in Narnia-years, with King Caspian now an old man searching for his missing heir, so it's a logical breaking point for the franchise. Though even earthling Eustace Scrubb, who is once again called into the fantasy realm by the immortal Aslan, will be played by a new actor. None of the cast from the first three Narnia movies will reprise their roles, and the crew behind the camera will be all-new as well (the Mark Gordon Company and The C.S. Lewis Company acquired the rights to the film franchise from The Walden Group in 2013).
