Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals might be behind us for another year, but if you're considering a purchase later on in 2023 it's never too soon to start planning for 2023. With last year's sale fresh in our minds, then, we're rounding up everything we saw in the latest round of discounts and looking forward to exactly what we can expect from November's offerings.
We're already looking at a different landscape this year. The Quest Pro is here, and may be a little more open to bundles and savings by the time November 2023 rolls around, and we saw some excellent Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals lasting all the way up to Christmas last year as well. That's a stark contrast to the year before, where a $50 / £50 gift card appeared only for the Thanksgiving week itself. That means we're hopeful for a little more action this Fall, though there's still plenty of time for everything to change.
So, how much can we expect to save on a Meta Quest 2? Will the Quest Pro offer some early discounts? How will the rumored 2023 announcement of the Meta Quest 3 impact our wallets? We're rounding up everything you can expect from this year's Black Friday gaming deals on the best VR headset around right here.
Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals: FAQ
When will Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals begin?
Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals will officially kick off on November 24, 2023. However, last year we saw the main bundle offer hitting the shelves from the start of Thanksgiving week. This was the best offer of the year, so it's well worth sticking around for.
What to expect from Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals in 2023
Last year's Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals truly were something to behold. In both the US and UK, we enjoyed a $50 / £50 discount on the 128GB model and two free games; Beat Saber (worth $29.99/£22.99) and Resident Evil 4 (worth $39.99/£29.99). That meant you could pick up the smaller device for $349 / £349 with an extra $69.98 / £52.98 worth of value included. That essentially brought the new $399 / £399 MSRP down to its previous $299 / £299 position and then some. Meanwhile, the 256GB model enjoyed even larger savings with $70 / £70 off the $499 / £499 MSRP and the same free games.
These offers were easily the best we'd seen all year, and exceeded our own expectations for the annual sale. With the Quest 3 announcement rumored to land around the holiday period of 2023, we're optimistic that these bundles will be matched (if not beaten) come Black Friday.
The Meta Quest Pro will have just hit its first birthday when these sales roll around, which would mean some solid discounts if we were talking about another brand. Unfortunately, we don't see that cost dropping over the course of Black Friday - we very rarely saw discounts at this stage on the Quest 2 even when it was considerably older after all. That higher starting price could send things in a different direction, but ultimately we're not holding out hope here.

Should you wait for Black Friday Oculus Quest 2 deals?
We generally only ever see discounts on the Oculus Quest 2 during Black Friday or holiday sales, which means we'd absolutely recommend holding off until the big day (or at least Thanksgiving week if discounts run earlier). Last year we got an incredible discount on the headset with two games for $50 / £50 less than the price of the machine by itself, so it definitely pays to wait.
However, things might be a little more fluid if you're after accessories and games. We're seeing regular sales on the Meta store itself if you're after something to play, and we may well see some extra price drops on head straps and charging accessories over the next few weeks as well. These offers may not be as solid as those later in November, but you'll still be able to save some cash before the crowds descend.
Will the Meta Quest Pro be on sale for Black Friday?
The Meta Quest Pro hit the shelves on October 25, 2022 at a considerable $1,499.99 MSRP. As such, it'll have a year under its belt by the time this year's Black Friday deals arrive. Ultimately we're not holding out much hope in terms of a reduction, but we said the same thing about the normal Quest 2 last November. We'd be surprised if a free copy of Beat Saber or gift card wasn't thrown in, though.
Is the 256GB Oculus Quest 2 worth it?
The 256GB Oculus Quest 2 is now $499 / £499, $100 / £100 more expensive than the smaller 128GB model. If you're concerned about running out of storage space, though, is the 256GB version really worth it?
Of course, that all depends on how many games you're going to be loading onto your system, and how large their file sizes are. Looking at the top releases on the Meta shelves this Black Friday, the average file size you're going to come up against is around 3.5GB.
- Bonelab - 7GB
- NFL Pro Era - 2.5GB
- Superhot VR - 2.1GB
- Blade & Sorcery Nomad - 2.3GB
- Job Simulator - 1.8GB
- The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners - 7.3GB
- Onward - 3.5GB
- Beat Saber - 1.5GB
Take away 8GB or so for the system files, and the 128GB headset will offer up enough space for around 34 titles of this size, jumping up to 70 for the 256GB model. If you've already got a shopping list that exceeds that former figure, or you're more likely to be playing larger titles it's well worth upgrading. However, the vast majority of users won't find value in spending more on storage they aren't going to ultimately use.
