How to get V Rising Paper for researching recipes

V Rising Paper is used to research new recipes via the Research Desk, so it's obviously useful but does get used up a lot. Paper is found across the V Rising map, largely in Farbane Woods in key strongholds, but can also be crafted by setting up a Paper Press in your Castle to farm it.

However, you'll need the recipe to make the press which is found by making and using a Study, itself the enhanced form of the Research Desk. It sounds complicated, but it's a lot simpler broken down into the steps below. So read on and I'll explain in more detail how to get Paper in V Rising, and how to farm it.

To get Paper in V Rising, players can find it in the world or craft it themselves. It takes quite a while before you're able to make your own, so finding it is much easier in the early hours.

Finding Paper in V Rising is most easily done by taking it off human enemies, primarily bandits, who have a small chance to drop it, along with things like V Rising Whetstones. It's also a common drop from chests, crates and barrels in bandit camps in the Farbane Woods.

To avoid wasting time, use your map to highlight enemy camps and areas to see what they have as rewards and, if Paper is listed, clear it out and open all their storage. If you need more Paper, either head to the next encampment, or go back to your Castle to give it all time to respawn. Paper drop rates aren't high, but the general availability of this particular resource means you'll get to roll the dice many times on every raid.

To craft Paper in V Rising you'll need a Paper Press. To get one, you'll need to kill Nicholaus the Fallen, a level 37 boss who will drop the Study, which functions like your Research Table, except it requires 75 Scrolls per random study, and has a whole new set of things to uncover. If you need help finding V Rising Scrolls, check our guide on that.

However, one of the things you can get is the Paper Press for your castle. Once you have it, insert the following:

  • Plant Fibres (x4)
  • Sawdust (x12)

This will create one sheet of Paper. Put in more Sawdust and Plant Fibres, and you'll come away with whole manuscripts of the stuff (as long as you give it time to create the pages). Like all these machines in your Castle, it will require a steady fuel of V Rising Blood Essence, so make sure you have yourself topped up accordingly.
