US TV Network Fox has ordered a pilot for a TV version of the Alan Moore-created comic book The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen .
League , which features a superteam of famous fictional Victorian characters – such as Allan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and Mina Harker – was previously made into a film directed by Stephen Norrington and released in 2003. Alan Moore hated it.
The new TV version is being described by The Hollywood Reporter as a ”put pilot”, which means that the pilot is likely to air even if Fox doesn’t order a series.
Michael Green ( Green Lantern , Heroes , Smallville ) is writing and executive producing the pilot, and will be the showrunner if the pilot is picked up for a series.
