Plus, extras casting call details reveal a Nordic theme
Snow White And The Huntsman producer Joe Roth ( Alice in Wonderland ) has told Entertainment Weekly that there are plans to create a trilogy out the reimagined fairy tale.
“It’s meant to be the first in a series of films,” he says. “This story will end, but there will be questions remaining for these three characters.”
He goes on to explain, “We retain the basic story in the same way we retained the basic story of Alice : a young girl meant to be the queen who is cast out. She starts out not a damsel in distress, but innocent, and after 11 years of imprisonment by the Evil Queen, she escapes and learns the ways of a warrior in the woods. The Huntsman [who’s played Thor ’s Chris Hemsworth] is a mercenary, in the sense that he’s a guy who is very able in the woods, more able than most anyone. His job is to capture runaway girls, who are all fleeing the kingdom because of the queen. He’s a nondescript bounty hunter, as we first meet him... He’s not a nice guy, but not only that, he’s someone who has lost hope and lost faith. He has lost his wife, given up on everything.”
The film, which is due to be released on 1 June, 2012, is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Twilight ’s Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones and Lily Cole.
It will be shot in the UK in Pinewood later this summer, and SFX has seen a casting call for extras:
1) Men & Women with facial scars/birthmarks/harelip/grizzly faces needed
Caucasian Men & Women aged over 16 years of age and above
Have any of the following:
Facial Scar
Facial birthmarks
Harelip
Grizzly face – this can include missing teeth/eyes etc
2) Nordic looking men and women with very blonde (almost white) long hair
Caucasian Men and Women aged over 16 years of age and above
Who have blonde (almost white) long viking type hair.
3) Older Skinny women with natural long grey/white hair needed.
Older Caucasian skinny women with long Grey/White hair.
