Skyrim Creation Kit goes deep in Bethesda's developer diary

Bethesda's Creation Kit for Skyrim is being heralded as the studio's beefiest modding tool yet, and after watching this video tour we can understand why. Listen in as Skyrim level designer Joel Burgess details all the bells and whistles of what looks to be a modders wet dream:

The Creation Kit will be supported with a Creation Kit Wiki and full integration with a Skyrim Workshop portal on Steam, giving game tweakers a highly organized way to make, trade, and rank mods with others in the community. Bethesda will also continue supporting existing mod sites such as Skyrim Nexus (which gave us this work of art) with Skyrim Workshop features like the ability to package custom INI into mods, thereby eliminating the need for backup.

“We’re big believers that if we go the extra mile and make our games as moddable as possible, the game will only be better for it,” wrote production director Ashley Cheng on Bethesda's blog. “More importantly, we want to make it easier for more people to enjoy mods. So we teamed up with Valve and created the Skyrim Workshop. We couldn’t be more pleased with how it’s turning out. Mods are a big part of what makes our games special, so we urge everyone to try it out. We’re going to keep looking for ways to get mods to more people, and hopefully one day to our console audience.”
