Marvel releases first official Avengers: Age Of Ultron poster

Marvel has debuted the first official poster for its forthcoming superhero sequel, Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The tasty one sheet showcases Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a variety of weapons-ready poses.

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Nick Fury take centre stage with series newbies, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch hovering above the action. The imminent threat of subtitle star, Ultron, can be witnessed zooming in behind the group. Check it out below:

Along with this new spot of art, a snappy synopsis has also arrived:

“When Tony Stark jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as they battle to save the planet from destruction at the hands of the villainous Ultron.”

Absent from that description are a slew of characters who have long since been rumoured for smaller roles. However, take a closer look toward the bottom of the image and you’ll be in for a little surprise.

Listed in the credit block are the now-confirmed franchise returnees Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Idris Elba (Heimdall) and Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig). The big revelation? Anthony Mackie, who has for months denied his appearance, is also credited alongside them. After his performances in both Cap solo flicks as The Falcon, it looks like we’ll be getting more winged action from him this spring.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron opens in U.K. cinemas on April 23rd, followed by its U.S. release on May 1st.
