The first trailer for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s druggy drama Hesher has found its way online.

Gordon-Levitt plays the titular Hesher, a substance-abusing, tattooed waster who inadvertently befriends TJ (Devin Brochu), a young kid mourning the loss of his mother.

Everybody’s scraped off the make-up, with Natalie Portman donning granny glasses, and the excellent Piper Laurie graduating to actual granny.

Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at last year’s Sundance, Hesher ’s taken its time making its way to cinemas, but it looks like a real treat.

If anything, it shows just what sort of a talent Gordon-Levitt is – he really seems to be bagging all the parts that a young Johnny Depp used to excel at.

Hesher opens Stateside in April, but has no UK release date as yet.
