Forgive us for getting over-excited when it comes to Edgar Wright's Ant-Man .
The thought of the Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim filmmaker being unleashed on one of Marvel's quirkiest characters makes it one of the most intriguing movies in development, even though it's yet to be greenlit.
At this weekend's Kapow! Comic Con, Wright's co-writer Joe Cornish gave the following succinct but inspiring progress update: "We delivered the second draft of Ant-Man two days ago, and we're really happy with it."
While this hardly proves that the movie will be shoved straight into production, it is extremely promising, and further bolsters our hopes that this'll be Edgar Wright's next movie as director.
Cornish was at Kapow! promoting Attack the Block , his directorial feature debut about aliens invading a South London estate. The pair recently worked together on the script for Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn .
Ant-Man will not be featuring in Marvel's forthcoming epic, The Avengers , and it's unclear if he could potentially fit into future franchise installments.
