Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, December 16 - 18. Zhalo Supercell!

Xur, Destiny’s weekend Exotic trader, grand champion sushi sculptor, and wanted felon in three different quadrants – for gross acts of illegal jazz – is back. This week he’s at the Tower, over in the Vanguard Hall. Thing are pretty civil at the moment, but he has a stink bomb in his pocket with Zavalla’s name on it, and later on, things are going to get tasty.

Anyway, what’s he selling? The things I am about to write. Those are the things that he is selling. And although I haven’t written them yet, via the temporal magic of words, you can already read them below. What kind of crazy, mind-bending stuff is that?

• The Glasshouse (Exotic Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
• Young Ahamkara's Spine (Exotic Hunter gauntlets) – 13SC
• Voidfang Vestments (Exotic Warlock chest armour) – 13SC
• Zhalo Supercell (Exotic auto rifle) – 23SC
• Legacy Engram (Chest armour engram) – 31 Strange Coins
• Exotic Shard - 7SC
• Three of Coins – 7SC
• Glass Needle – 3SC

What’s good? Well the Titans’ Glasshouse is solid but not essential, increasing the duration of the Weapons and Blessing of Light buffsdealt out by a Defender’s bubble shield. The effect goes for the whole fireteam, but only applies to bubbles popped up by the Glasshouse-equipped Titan. It’s a decent boon during certain boss fights – particularly during Raids – but not exactly a must-have. The Hunters’ Young Ahamkara’s Spike are a natty Crucible Exotic, particularly well-suited to objective-based modes, given that they add an extra charge to your Trip Mines, and make each mine last longer. And the Voidfang Vestments, which seem to have come up every other week forever now, give you a fully-charged grenade gauge on spawn, and an extra seeker shot on Axion Bolts. Again, more of a Crucible Exotic, but if Axions are a fundamental part of your game, pretty handy. Otherwise, you’re only getting half the value.

The Zhalo Supercell though, is definitely the star of this weeks’ show. An elemental primary with Arc damage, it has a chance of delivering chain-lightning on hit – thus immediately multiplying your number of affected targets - and also has a chance of recharging a bigger chunk of your Super gauge and replenishing ammo on double-kills. A definite PvE specialist, but a damn good (and let’s face it, just plain fun) one, and if you’re a Stormcalling Warlock running a Strike with Arc Burn on, frankly just a bit of a sick joke.

One last note: Xur is now selling Exotic shards, for seven Strange Coins a pop. This is great news, because damn, infusing Exotics is a faff without a decent supply of those. Also, he is now not selling Ornaments. You’ll have to actually make an effort from now on if you want those.

As ever, Xur will be around until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll bugger off for another week. Straight off to see Rogue One, in fact, because do you have any idea what it’s like to have to work the whole weekend while trying to avoid spoilers?
