Captain America: Civil War may not have killed off Crossbones, says Frank Grillo

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Captain America: Civil War

The opening scene of Captain America: Civil War reaches its explosive conclusion when Cap and his team take down Brock Rumlow - aka Crossbones - in a fiery blaze. We don't see Crossbones' body blow up in a scatter of bloody pieces, but surely there was no way that he could have survived that blast. Right? Wrong.

“You think he dies, don't you? Did you see the body?” actor Frank Grillo said during an interview on Good Morning America. “What did you see?” The last we see is Crossbones tossed into the air, and seconds later, an explosion that leads to many innocent casualties. Apparently his protective gear is far more advanced than it appears.

Let's not forget, this is the world of comic book movies. Characters die only to be revived later on (i.e. Agent Coulson's death in The Avengers is undone in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). And Crossbones himself had a narrow squeak in Captain America: The Winter Soldier after a massive building landed on him... and he still didn't die.

"That happened last time," Grillo says, referring to the previous instance of Crossbones' brush with death. "I'm not saying anything except that ... you didn't see a body." Looks like the MCU might not be done with the unstoppable Crossbones.
