Console and headset deals

Valve Steam Deck (256GB)

Valve Steam Deck (256GB) | AU$1,500 AU$1,055 at Kogan (save AU$445)

If you're a PC gamer, you already know that Valve hate Australia. Almost a year since launching in the US, Canada and Europe, Valve's handheld Steam Deck still has no announced release date for Australia and there's no sign it will get one. Nonetheless, you can get your hands on the handheld gaming beast as an import if you're willing to part with a ton of cash. So that makes this saving all the more attractive. The Steam Deck with 256GB of storage will cost you as much as AU$1,500 most everywhere else, but comes in at just a tick over AU$1K here thanks to the folk at Kogan.

Also available for AU$1,019 at Catch.
512GB storage option available at a discounted price of AU$1,699 also at Kogan.

If you've been waiting around for months or years for stock of the Xbox Series X to emerge, you're in luck with an early Christmas miracle. You can head over to Amazon right now and catch the console on offer at its regular retail price, which is a feat in itself.

Xbox Series S 512GB console

Xbox Series S 512GB console | AU$499 AU$399 at Amazon (save AU$100)

We originally saw this saving opportunity pop up during Black Friday sales a month ago, but we're certainly not complaining about the return of this opportunity to save a cool AU$100 on the Xbox Series S console. Although it lacks some of the performance specs of the premium Xbox Series X console (and a disc tray), pairing the Xbox Series S up with an Xbox Game Pass subscription turns it into a powerhouse entryway into the world of new-gen gaming.

Nintendo Switch Console, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + three month Switch Online subscription bundle

Nintendo Switch Console, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + three month Switch Online subscription bundle | AU$469.95 AU$399 at Amazon (save AU$70.95)

Keen to dive into the chaotic fun of Nintendo gaming for the holidays? This one's for you. Thanks to this 15% saving, you can get your hands on this bundle with the base Nintendo Switch console, digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a bonus three month Switch Online subscription for the same price it would cost you for the console alone.

Unless you're planning to play your games mostly handheld, this base Switch Console is every bit as good as the pricier Switch OLED. So what're you waiting for?

Where can I find the best Boxing Day gaming deals in Australia?

Boxing Day sales: FAQ

When will Boxing Day sales begin?

Boxing Day sales are creeping closer and closer each year, with some even kicking off on Christmas Eve. Retailers tend to shift their focus once the last day of Christmas shipping has passed, which explains why we've been seeing so many savings landing before the turkey's in the oven in recent years. In general, though, the biggest Boxing Day sales kick off between December 25 and December 26 depending on the retailer.

Should you wait for Boxing Day sales?

While Boxing Day sales have long been a big deal in Australia, online retailers increasingly kick off their deals a few days in advance, or else, their Christmas sales bleed into their Boxing Day offerings. We'll be updating this page in the days before Boxing Day, so it's well worth checking in on the regular.

That said, there are some categories, like toys, that could see further discounts once the Christmas rush is over. If you're not concerned about stock levels or delivery before the actual holiday, it might be worth waiting a little.

When do the Boxing Day sales end?

Well, the truth is that the Boxing Day sales just turn into, or run into, the January sales. This means there's an extensive sales period after Christmas and means the opportunity for picking up a deal is greater and potentially more fruitful.
