Potential Plot: After her parents separate, a young Lara seeks refuge in the sleepy town of Forks, Washington. But once there, Lara learns of an ancient evil lurking in the woods and must destroy it or risk falling prey to its seductive power.
Lara Qualities: Good with a holster and gun ( Cowboys & Aliens ), and evading deadly assassins ( Tron: Legacy ), she’s also a dab hand at fixing cuts and scrapes thanks to her medical training from Dr. House.
Potential Plot : While hacking into a high security computer server, Lara discovers an algorithm that can stop the aging process. Seeing the inherent dangers of possessing such a device, Lara must infiltrate ‘The Grid’ to destroy any traces of it.
Lara Qualities: She survived two Transformers movies and knows how to run away from giant robots. Remember the giant robot in the first Tomb Raider movie? That was weird.
Potential Plot: When adventurer Lara discovers a race of demonic robots whilst raiding the Egyptian pyramids, she’s forced to bring them down from the inside.
Lara Qualities: Hands down the toughest girl in movies right now. Seriously, she’s the only person on the planet who can stand next to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and look equally as hard as nails.
Potential Plot: Lara is betrayed by her tomb raiding team, led by Black Ops contractor Ewan McGregor, and left for dead so they can get their hands on her inheritance. But Lara isn’t about to give up the family estate - and so begins a terrifying home invasion thriller in which the hunters become the hunted.
Lara Qualities: She played Kate Middleton in TV Movie William & Kate so she knows how to do prim and proper. She also happens to be the actress who voices Lara Croft in the latest video game installment.
Potential Plot: In a plot that gets more than a little meta, Lara is mistaken for the video game incarnation of herself. The only way to live her life with any normalcy is to defeat the evil ‘Paps’ and marry a prince. Spike Jonze would be in talks to direct with Charlie Kaufman writing the script.
Lara Qualities: Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen in Game Of Thrones – one of the most bad-ass, strong and powerful female characters on TV. She also, handily, knows her way around the odd barbarian culture, and is mother to a host of fire-breathing dragons. Which isn’t too shabby.
Potential Plot: In a post-apocalyptic landscape, the world has been divided into warring factions. Lara is the one person prophesied to unite the world and rule over them all.
Lara Qualities: She was able to outshine Batman in The Dark Knight Rises , and looks great kicking ass. From a toff POV, she adapted to the royal way of life pretty darn snappily in The Princess Diaries .
Potential Plot: When Lara interns at one of the biggest fashion magazines in the world, she discovers that the Editor-in-Chief isn’t just evil within the confines of the office. To bring her down, she’s forced to embrace her ass-kicking superheroic alter-ego to defeat this mysterious and ancient evil (Meryl Streep).
Lara Qualities: On the one hand she’s quiet and cute…. but on the other hand, and usually at the flick of a well placed subliminal message, she can turn into a vicious killing machine, as seen in Joss Whedon’s Firefly . She also played a ruthless killing machine in The Sarah Connor Chronicles as a Terminator, so she can handle the action stakes in her sleep.
Potential Plot: Lara boards Serenity, a ship of mis-matched thieves. But the mysterious super AI controlling the ship is set to go into full – and very violent – meltdown, leaving the group to wonder who they can trust, and who will survive.
Lara Qualities: Managed to do a more than convincing English accent in The Other Boleyn Girl - and of course her action credentials as Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 2 are up there with the best of cinema’s ass-kicking ladies.
Potential Plot: On an expedition to Japan in search of an artifact known as the Tesseract, Lara meets a lonely, aging millionaire called Tony Stark. The pair form a bond and wander the streets of Tokyo before he finally tells her the real truth behind their ‘chance’ encounter.
Lara Qualities: Brie is able to hold her own in the cast of Mad Men , regularly endures Community ’s most madcap of escapades, and nearly outsmarted Ghost Face in Scream 4 .
Potential Plot: After her tomb-raiding career falters, Lara decides it’s time to finish her education and heads back to college. There she meets Pete Campbell, a troubled young man trying to find his place in the world. But Campbell knows the college they attend hides great wealth and will stop at nothing to find it.
