360 - Mass Effect - EA to publish Mercenaries 2; confirmed for Xbox 360? OXM seems to thinks so, or at least hope so.

"Developed by Pandemic Studios, the title has now found a publisher in EA, stepping into breach with a release date scheduled for later this year.

This is great news on two counts; one, the game is going to receive a huge marketing and advertising campaign - refreshing the gaming masses collective memory that Mercenaries 2 will offer fun filled carnage as you fulfil the role of a mercenary for hire, working for the highest bidder in a world on the brink of World War III. Secondly and more importantly; EA has a tendency to publish their games on multiple formats. And EA loves Xbox 360!

Currently, Mercenaries 2 is only confirmed for the PS3 but as we have witnessed before on the next-gen, exclusive titles are hard to come by. The likes of Assassin's Creed, GTAIV and Virtua Fighter 5 have already made the leap from PS3 to Xbox 360, so it's not exactly rocket science to believe that Mercenaries 2 could do the same."

According the product's web page, Mass Effect will launch down there on May 18, 2007. We don't expect this title to arrive earlier on any territory before it hits North American retailers, so this Australian release date confirms that we can expect this UE3-powered action role-playing game before the four week of May.

360 - Mass Effect - Bioware Working on PS3... Just NOT Mass Effect There was a rumor in CVG where they suggested that Bioware could be working on a PS3 version of Mass Effect.

However, it was just a twist of the whole original interview in which Myzuka never mentioned or suggested Mass Effect, which would be ridiculous considering that Microsoft is the publisher of the game.

Here's Gamespot Rumor Control for the Original Article.

360 - Mass Effect - Episodic content is the future for BioWare titles Mass Effect developer tells CVG it has "big plans" for additional material for numerous projects

It's already know that BioWare is to release episodic content for its forthcoming Xbox 360 game Mass Effect, but the developer has now revealed it's expanding episodic release plans to cover additional projects.

"...we have big plans afoot at BioWare for post-release and episodic content for upcoming cool BioWare games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire: Special Edition and other upcoming BioWare titles, both on console and PC", BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka divulged in an interview with CVG which will be published later today.

Speaking further about online initiatives, Muzyka said, "There have been a lot of innovations in the PC space in online games - World of Warcraft and other MMOs continue to expand the business and we're excited about joining that world ourselves with the upcoming title we're developing down with our great team at BioWare Austin [BioWare's in-development MMORPG] - and digital distribution and episodic content".

Mass Effect, the spacebound Xbox 360 RPG that pressed all our interest buttons at X06, is rumored to be coming to PC. "Mass Effect will come to PC... it's currently not officially confirmed but we have it on good authority," reports PC Gamer UK magazine - not too wild a prediction given the similarities between PC and 360 development. And, of course, developer BioWare's previous Xbox titles Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire both eventually arrived in mouse-and-keyboard land, where ... » Read More

360 - Mass Effect - Mass Effect rumored for the PC An article scan from the latest PC Gamer UK reveals that BioWare's Mass Effect could be heading to the PC. This is most welcome news for Windows gamers, but hardly surprising when you consider the Canadian developer's previous two Xbox titles followed the same path. Knights of the Old Republic started out as an Xbox exclusive, and its PC conversion followed four months later. Also, a special edition PC port of Jade Empire was announced at E3 and will ship in January.

Mass Effect doesn't arrive on the Xbox 360 until Q2, so we probably wouldn't see the rumored PC release until late next year.

360 News from N4G | Mass Effect
360 - Mass Effect - The State of RPGs: Xbox 360 Telling your friends you just bought an Xbox 360 wouldn't exactly indicate you'd just bought a machine with an RPG rich catalogue. As of right now, there's only one RPG available on the system, Bethesda's excellent The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and one MMORPG, Square's Final Fantasy XI. However, over the next few years the perception of the Xbox 360 is certain to change. Though not all are high-profile titles such as Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile, or Dragon Quest, there are a surprising number of role-playing titles in development for Microsoft's sleek white machine.
RPGs can arguably be described as the most vital genre for a console. Years after release, it's generally the RPGs that are remembered the fondest. After all, they've got detailed characters, intricate storylines, generally 20 or more hours of gameplay, and generally involve much more player emotional involvement and investment than other genres. One thing we're seeing on the Xbox 360 that wasn't evident on the Xbox is the support of Japanese RPGs. Microsoft and Mistwalker are teaming up to bring Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to Japan, a territory where Xbox 360 sales are as impressive as a slice of bread. Thankfully, Blue Dragon is also being brought West next year, giving American Xbox 360 gamers a chance to experience a big-budget JRPG on their next generation console.

Moving past Blue Dragon, BioWare is bringing its next big title to Xbox 360 as well. Mass Effect has been nothing but impressive so far. Since the franchise is planned as a trilogy across the Xbox 360's lifespan, we're hoping for great things. RPG fans will also get BioShock, a title from Irrational Games that looks so good it won our Overall Game of the Show award for E3 2006. A number of online multiplayer games are being developed for Microsoft's console as well, including EA's Project Gray Company, Sega's Phantasy Star Universe, an upcoming Marvel MMO, and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Other games such as Elveo...
