Third LA Noire gameplay trailer reveals Cole's rise through the LAPD

After years of anticipation, it's almost hard to believe that LA Noire's May 17 release is less than a month away – and just to make sure we don't forget, Rockstar's released another of its lengthy, preview-style "trailers" (which previously offered a general introduction to the game and details about how its investigation and interrogation work). This time, we're given a detailed look into exactly how war-hero protagonist Cole Phelps will rise from lowly beat cop to detective on the mean streets of 1940s Hollywood.

The trailer also reveals the five desks Cole will work on as he rises through the department (patrol, traffic, homicide, vice and arson), as well as the men he'll be partnered with on each. However, it looks like simply going through the story isn't the only way to get Cole's rank up, as you can also take on side cases that dispatch will alert you about, or hunt down famous Hollywood landmarks (which appear to be LA Noire's obligatory semi-hidden collectibles). You can also replay your cases to follow different leads, find evidence you may have missed and get a more thorough picture of what happened – which will net you more points for your performance. Other than that, the big takeaway is plenty of new gameplay footage that makes an already amazing-looking game look slightly more amazing, which is always a plus.

Tbh the fighting scene on the roof looks pretty shitty. The way the chars are moving doesn't look very real to me. This game is either gonna blow me away or its gonna be to slow paced and boring. Will buy on day one tough just out of curiosity.

Can't wait! I know it's a game revolving around a detective who should appear calm when entering a crime scene, but watching him walk so slowing makes me think 10% of the time I'll be screaming "Cmon! Just jog!" Hope you can pull people over too, just for fun. Then you can do the cocky cop walk up to the car - just don't forget to sit in your squad car for 5minutes first.
