It’s the fight Game of Thrones fans have been waiting years to see and, with two seasons left, the question has to be asked: will The Mountain finally go mano a mano with his baby brother The Hound? Well, the Mountain has got a few choice words for those looking forward to the biggest scrap Westeros has ever seen.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is more than aware of the hype surrounding what has been dubbed the ‘Cleganebowl’. “I did notice a lot of people were talking about the Cleganebowl – people were waiting for me and my brother [The Hound] to fight.”
Rory McCann who plays Sandor Clegane, better known as The Hound, has not spoken openly about the rumours – but the Icelandic strongman was more than happy to tease Game of Thrones diehards as the show begins its final act, “There’s a lot of expectation from the fans to see that happen – obviously I cannot comment on that… you’re just going to have to see what’s gonna happen!”
I wouldn’t dare say it to his face but I really hope he’s not being a big ol’ leg-puller. Who doesn’t want to see the Hound and The Mountain cross swords? Just as long as The Hound gets to keep his eyeballs.
Game of Thrones will debut summer 2017

I'm the Senior Entertainment Writer here at GamesRadar+, focusing on news, features, and interviews with some of the biggest names in film and TV. On-site, you'll find me marveling at Marvel and providing analysis and room temperature takes on the newest films, Star Wars and, of course, anime. Outside of GR, I love getting lost in a good 100-hour JRPG, Warzone, and kicking back on the (virtual) field with Football Manager. My work has also been featured in OPM, FourFourTwo, and Game Revolution.
