Following record-shop portrait Sound It Out , director Jeanie Finlay’s latest doc is a pointed and often hilarious music industry exposé.
Unable to get gigs, duo Silibil N’ Brains – ‘the rapping Proclaimers’ – adopt Californian accents out of desperation and find themselves in a fierce bidding war.
Fast cash and endless partying ensue, but the fear of their true Scottish identities being found out weighs heavily on the young duo.
The talking-head format may be shopworn, but it rarely undermines this infectious, insightful look at the fickleness of pop stardom.
