Steve Oedekerk writing Stretch Armstrong

With toy franchises like Transformers and GI Joe riding high for studios, it’s no surprise that Stretch Armstrong would rise again like some plastic zombie.

Steve Oedekerk – who penned Bruce Almighty (and, shudder, helped write Evan Almighty) – is just the latest in a long string of writers who have taken a crack at the 1970’s toy.

Stretch, a blond-haired toy named for his stretchy rubber limbs, has been floating around Hollywood’s development pool since at least 1998, with actors such as Danny DeVito and Jackie Chan attached at different times.
