Rumor: Ezio to slip hidden blades into throats in Soulcalibur 5

Ever since Soulcalibur II, the fighting series has set a precedent of including special guest characters. From Link to Yoda, Namco has found new characters to add to the roster, and it appears as though Soulcalibur V will be no different. According to a tipster, Assassin's Creed's Ezio Auditore de Firenze will be stealthily sneaking into the game's roster undetected, before slashing enemies' jugulars with a hidden blade.

The tipster has no proof besides the image above, but if it's a fake it's easily one of the best we've ever seen. There's also no word if Ezio is going to be the only guest character, or if he'll be console exclusive to either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions. We're hoping that there are going to be additional characters, not because Ezio isn't good enough, but because we're selfish. We'd love to see other characters from big 2011 releases, like Nathan Drake or Batman, get tossed into the roster. That, or maybe Dante from Devil May Cry will finally make an appearance after being cut from Soulcalibur III. Dante is set to be rebooted in the near future with Ninja Theory's DMC, making him ripe for inclusion.

Or this is a fake, and some talented Photoshopsmith is currently laughing hysterically while the internet press scrambles around. We've reached out for a comment on this story, and we'll let you know the moment we know more. In the meantime, you should probably speculate wildly!

This would be pretty awesome, although I do hope he's not exclusive to one version, because if the other version had a different exclusive it would be too hard to choose. Unless the other exclusive was someone lame like Heihachi. I am liking this trend though. I enjoy using Kratos in Mortal Kombat, and I'm looking forward to Cole being in Street Fighter X Tekken.

And yet they're showing the Brotherhood Ezio, rather than the new Revelations version? Oh thats right, Soul Calibur doesnt like ageing characers :P Personally, I would liked to have seen FFXIII-2's Lightning as a guest character, especially since her armour and weapons look like they've been ripped out of an SC game anyways.

I would like to see the stars of Samurai Champloo, Mugan and Jin, in the game. they fit better others guest they had in the game so far.

Ugh, please, no more console-exclusive characters. I don't like being punished for having the "wrong" version. That said; it would be cool if Ezio joins in, seeing as he'd blend right in (no pun intended) with the rest of the cast. He just better be on both versions of the game. : /

Not anyone I expected, but certainly not a bad choice. I'd be happy if this is true.

Bring back Kratos and Link for this game then you have an awesome trio of asskickers that actually could fit in to this game universe.

    How about Bayonetta?

Ezio is an excellent choice. He would fit the era far better than the Star Wars characters and wouldn't be difficult to weave into the story. Let's just hope the inevitable hidden gun attacks aren't too overpowered.

I think this is real since if you look at the character select carefully you'll see: 2 slots to the left of Ezio has a character that hasnt beem showed yet ( kinda reminds me of grown up talim) 1 to the right is also a new charcter AND we have what looks like nightmare in the 2nd row from the top at the very far right. So methinks that this screenshot is very real :)

Ezio isn't the only one who new on this version of the roster. If you look on the right end of the second row Nightmare is there. And there are 2 new characters one which looks like a guy in a top hat to the right of Ezio and a girl between Zwei and Natsu.

Nightmare was already confirmed previously by twitter or something.

I don't know about this... I think the size of Ezio's blades keep him from being up to "calibur"

This would actually be pretty interesting. Not as good as Link but not bad.
