Report: Whore of the Orient on hold, devs laid off

Whore of the Orient has reportedly been postponed and development talent laid off as rights holder KMM struggles to obtain necessary funding for the project. Co-founded by Mad Max creator George Miller, Australian multimedia production house KMM acquired the IP alongside former LA Noire talent from Team Bondi following the studio's collapse in 2011.

Multiple sources told MCV that the studio is no longer working on the next-gen and PC game, a detective thriller set in Shanghai in 1936 that has never been attached to a publisher. In a statement issued to the site, KMM veteran Doug Mitchell would only say: "Whore of the Orient is a unique and extraordinary story and game, and we are still actively pursuing the right investor to partner with."

I'd imagine many publishers are enthralled with funding a game call Whore of the Orient.
