New Wii bundle for $130

The Wii is getting even cheaper in time for the holidays, Nintendo announced today, with a price less than half the cheapest Wii U bundle. The latest pack will include a black Wii, matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk, and Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, all for $130.

Nintendo said the bundle is popping up in retail outlets now and is expected to be widely available by October 28. The bundle includes both Wii Sports games on a single disc and will replace the current $150 package, which ships with a black console, remote, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

The price drop brings the Wii (and two of its most successful games) to just above half its launch price of $250 in November 2006. Meanwhile, Wii U will retail for either $300 or $350, depending on desired storage and a packed-in copy of Nintendo Land.

I'm predicting a lot of unknowledgeable mothers or fathers getting the wii for their kids instead of the requested wii U. "The wii thing, thats what the kids wanted, right honey?"

Seems like a good deal...but anybody interested in buying a Wii by this point may as well just invest in a Wii U, surely? I mean it can play the same games, and they're still selling Wiimotes and sensor bars. Okay, you'll have to plop down nearly twice as much, but at least you'll be getting more out your money in the long run. I honestly cannot imagine there's anybody who hasn't already experienced the Wii's best, at least, of those who cared about doing so. If you've missed this boat it's probably not worth trying to get on it now. May as well just sell the remotes for pennies and encourage everyone to get the Wii U basic pack.
