Nathan Fillion wants to be Nathan Drake

The nerdcore are familiar with Nathan Fillion, who made his career in niche celluloid gold like Firefly and Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog. Fillion gets by on equal parts charm and smarm, and now, it seems, the actor is on a mission: to headline in the in-production Uncharted film adaptation.

Using his Twitter account to start his own kind of revolution, Fillion wrote “If ever there was a Twitter campaign, let this be it. Rise, ye Browncoats. Rise, ye Castillions. RISE!” A link to a Deadline New York article about the forthcoming game adaptation followed.

Above: Because “hammer” means “penis.” Don’t argue.

Since it’s widely believed that Fillion was Nathan Drake’s chief inspiration, this is kind of a no-brainer. The film adaptation itself has already gone through a rocky start. Having been reportedly in production for over a year as of 2009, the LA Times reported over the summer that Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees director David O. Russell was in consideration to helm the project, but dropped out, forcing the flick off the fast-track to theaters. On October 8, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Russell is back in the driver’s seat for an unspecified release date. Phew.

I don't own a PS3 but I rented one just to play the Uncharted and Infamous franchises because I'm not an idiot and can recognize a great game when I see one. And Nathan Fillion is obviously the best choice for this role. I love Nathan Drake, I love what Nolan North did with the character (essentially the video game equivalent of Nathan Fillion), and I love Nathan Fillion. I would do terrible things to see this happen.

No one else could do a better job.

If Nathan Fillion plays Nathan Drake, then I will see the movie. If he doesn't, I will not. It's as simple as that. It would be a grave injustice if he didn't get to play Drake.

Why do we need a mivie adaption for Uncharted 2? Wasn't the game good enough?

ummm...YES! 1,000 times YES! Please, for the love of God, someone wake up and listen to the fans on this one. Give it to the perfect person for the job who ALSO WANTS THE JOB! Nuff said...make it happen!

Never played either of the Uncharted games and have never really seen this Nathan Fillion guy act besides a little bit of Two Guys and a Girl.

Nathan Fillion NEEDS to be Nathan drake. If he isnt, the entire world will implode. No other actor is worthy to be Drake.

We want Nathan Fillion to be cast as Nathan Drake! Yes! NATHAN FILLION is the BEST choice to play Nathan Drake! He's got action hero written all over him, with the biceps to prove it. He's extremely bright, clever, funny, sexy, young, hot, and devilishly handsome. And he wants this role as much as we want it for him! It's his turn to be the next powerful leading man on the big screen. He's an up-and-coming A-List movie star with muscle and heat and he's a-comin' to take over feature films! I feel it! Grab him while you can for the Uncharted franchise. Because he'll also make the best Indiana Jones when they re-boot those movies!! In his campaign to be Nathan Drake, we Browncoats and Castillions firmly support our Captain Nathan Fillion!

In all honesty I'm more concerned with the casting of Sully. Can't really see any face other than Sully's own with Richard McGonagle's voice. And what happened to all the demands for Nolan North to play the big screen Drake? One voice-over too many perhaps?
  • infernox - October 14, 2010 8:29 a.m.

what about the voice though? nathan drake without nolans voice fails.
  • reaperman22 - October 14, 2010 8:10 a.m.

despite the fact it will almost definitely turn into an Indiana Jones rip off i would love to see this, also is that you xboxrulez cause if it is go crawl back under whatever rock you have been hiding under and die
  • Ell223 - October 14, 2010 7:42 a.m.

Just to warn you all that they'll probably end up casting Matthew Maconahay.

No matter what you say about Fillion he deserves this sweet role. I dont care what anyone says hes my favorite actor right now (this doesnt mean much since he pushed keanu out of the running) but fillion is god. He should always be successful wherever his travels shall take him
  • TheWebSwinger - October 14, 2010 4:31 a.m.

    I don't see it.
