Nathan Fillion is a great cast for Nathan Drake, but look at this guy. Matthew Davis - he is an ideal cast if you ask me
  • ZsasZ - July 11, 2011 10:10 a.m.

Fillion is clearly the best choice BUT..... Am I the only one who thinks that Jason Bateman wouldn't be a terrible idea?

I don't always mancrush, but when I do, it is for Nathan Fillion to play Nathan Drake. Isn't that why his parents named him Nathan?
  • BLOODmuffins - July 9, 2011 4:03 a.m.

Nathan Fillion man-crush ACTIVATED! Seriously, though, the man is a fantastic actor and he is perfect for the role
  • Eccentrick - July 9, 2011 3:09 a.m.

I would love to see Nathan Fillion play Drake, but I think I'm starting to agree with some people that he might be too old for the part now. Wahlberg was a bad choice. Bradley Cooper seems better. I've heard a few mention David Boreanaz, which would be nice (I know he's older than Fillion, but doesn't look older). Someone I haven't heard anyone mention is Josh Duhamel. I think he would have the right look and style of humour for the part as well. And for the people wanting Nolan North: great voice, but I don't think he has the physique for the part. A rundown of my casting suggestions that would make me happy as an Uncharted fan: Drake - Josh Duhamel, Bradley Cooper, David Boreanaz, or Nathan Fillion Elena - Kristen Bell or Amy Adams Sully - J.K. Simmons or Harrison Ford (as a passing of the torch to a younger take on Indy!)

Why can't Nolan North play Nathan Drake in the movie? I mean, sure, all we've seen him as Nathan has been by voice acting, but I've read that they used his movements (lunges, punches, etc.) for use as Nathan in the real game. If they really wanted fan-service, then what would be better than hearing the actual Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie?
  • ThatGuyFromTV - July 8, 2011 9:52 p.m.

They could have done a hell of a lot worse than Mark Wahlberg, but Nathan Fillion would be insane.
  • Trapper7 - July 8, 2011 8:07 p.m.

Matt Passmore from "The Glades". Just sayin'
  • Fiirestorm21 - July 8, 2011 7:16 p.m.

I agree that Nate Fillion is far from the only good choice for the role, but I'd still love to see him in it.

    It's back on! :D

When you have a character designed around a particular actor and then that actor is not given the role in the movie based on that character you've got some major issues. Not only is Nathan the only choice for the role, but he wants the role. If he doesn't get the offer this time around the film will again be DOA, even without Mark Wahlberg, thank God.

I never really had a thought on the matter, but the people making the point that the games are already basically like playing through a movie have convinced me that it's actually unnecessary. That said–even though I haven't been following it–I understand that (some; most?) people want NF to play Drake, and personally I don't think they look at all alike. I know that shouldn't be the only criterion for casting, but, considering how recognizable Nathan Drake is as a video game character, as a player I would want the actor to *more* than just passingly resemble him. And so I think NF is a bad choice. If anyone, I think that Ben Affleck would really suit the role. He even has the same build.

Nathan Fillion is the very best choice to embody Nathan Drake! Many of us worked hard recently in response to his asking Browncoats and Castillions to rise and campaign for him to star in Uncharted. Now that another chance has opened up, we want to make the most of it! I've said it elsewhere, but Nathan has got action hero written all over him. Just look at him. He's young, sexy, hot, gorgeous, and powerfully built, with biceps Superman would admire! He's extremely intelligent, and wildly funny. He does both drama and comedy brilliantly. He single-handedly transformed the term "geek" into "sexgod." It is his turn to be the next major movie star. What a superhero he would make on the big screen! And when our beloved Harrison Ford gets ready to pass along the fedora, Nathan Fillion will make the best Indiana Jones! Even @AllUNCHARTED has provided real support for Nathan to be Drake! Nathan Fillion wins at winning, and he will deliver the goods as Nathan Drake! Cast him, and it will be a win-win for us all! To further support Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake, be sure to follow him on Twitter! @NathanFillion

I still don't think Uncharted needs a film, the game is cinematic enough, but please, if there is a god up there, please Santa or whatever made up shit, let Mr.Fillion be Drake. The man wants to do it! The fans want him to do it! He's a great actor so whats the beef?! Do it Mr Sony executives and I'll forgive you for the network hackings (maybe).
  • Nodoudt - July 8, 2011 6:10 p.m.

I've seen The Illusionist myself, and it's a fantastic little gem of a movie, so I've good hopes for this. And I'm always behind the idea of Nathan getting his big role, so I've got my fingers crossed.
  • LoganDeckard - July 8, 2011 5:49 p.m.

Can we all get over the fact that Nathan Fillion isn't going to be in this movie? As much as he is great for the part he just isn't a well known enough actor to be put in a big buget action film. Since Neil Burger is directing (Limitless was fantastic by the way) Bradley Cooper will probably take the role, who is a fine compromise. ENOUGH with the bitching.
  • Baron164 - July 8, 2011 5:45 p.m.

If Nolan North or Nathan Fillion don't play Nathan Drake in the film then it will be doomed to get tossed into the same hole other movie game adaptations go. That said, if either North or Fillion were to actually play Nathan Drake I would go see the movie no matter how bad it ends up being lol
  • phieagles20 - July 8, 2011 5:34 p.m.

@ rickdiculous You do know that Paul Rudd is older than Nathan Fillion right?
  • CitizenWolfie - July 8, 2011 5:32 p.m.

I think I said it before when Mark Wahlberg was originally cast: If ever there was a game that didn't need to have a film it's Uncharted. Seriously, would you rather watch a wise-cracking, rakishly-handsome explorer climbing impossible temples and shooting villains? Or actually BE a wise-cracking, rakishly-handsome explorer climbing impossible temples and shooting villains? The franchise already borrows heavily from films like Indiana Jones, National Treasure and all those other sort of action films but it's better since you can actually play it. I don't necessarily need to watch someone pretending to be Nathan Drake when I could happily sit at home being him myself without idiots talking loudly/texting each other/generally being a fucking nuisance in a darkened cinema. It's the reason I'm a gamer and not a film buff. It's the reason I'm reading GamesRadar and not IMDB. TL:DR - Who the Hell is Nathan Fillion?
