Gears of War 4 will be released on October 11 in the US and UK, Microsoft revealed on Wednesday. If that still seems far too long without a new infusion of grizzled, cover-based shooting action, you can start playing its multiplayer beta as early as April 18.
The Gears sequel takes place years after the conclusion of Gears of War 3, starring the son of Marcus Fenix and his two friends as they explore the hostile world beyond the city state walls. Microsoft has already confirmed that the Xbox One exclusive will run at 1080p resolution across the board, with a solid 30 frames per second in the campaign and a smooth 60 in multiplayer.
Entertainment Weekly has posted the game's box art, showing its heroic trio fighting through a semi-apocalyptic maelstrom.
