Nintendo has a long tradition adding a little extra spice to third party games by lending out its characters. Following in the footsteps of Link in Soul Calibur II and Mario in NBA Street 3, Nintendo is now sharing its a couple of its famous mascots with Koei's endless series, Dynasty Warriors. It was revealed this morning that Link and Samus' likenesses will appear in the upcoming 3DS title Dynasty Warriors VS.
First posted on Japanese gaming site Famitsu (via Andrisang), the 3DS release is coming out in Japan next month and features costumes of the Legend of Zelda and Metroid heroes. From the look of the first images, it appears male fighters will be able to dress up as Link as he appears in recent hit Skyward Sword, while ladies can dress in Samus' famous Zero Suit variation. According to early translations, it's unclear if they'll be unlockable in the campaign or are part of the many downloadable items Dynasty Warriors VS boasts.
Given Tecmo's recent history with Nintendo including developing Metroid: Other M and having a Metroid stage in Dead or Alive Dimensions, this isn't a total shock, but it's interesting to see Nintendo continue this kind of exchange with Tecmo Koei. Though Dynasty Warriors VS has yet to be announced for international release, it's only a matter of time. When it does come out, will the inclusion of these Nintendo mascot (or at least their clothes) get any of you to check out this game on the 3DS? (Bonus: It's compatible with the Circle Pad Pro.)
