Duke Nukem Forever launching on May 3, kickass trailer and screens inside

It’s official. The game everyone’s been writing off as vaporware has a release date. Publisher 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software have announced that Duke Nukem Forever will launch on May 3, 2011 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

“When I said goodbye to 3D Realms and the original Duke Nukem 3D team in 1997 and soon after founded Gearbox Software, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a day like this would come,” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “Today, I am proud, humbled and even astounded to announce that the day is coming at last for all gamers to be a part of video game history: Duke Nukem Forever will launch worldwide this May!”

If waiting till May feels like it will take forever, you can get early access to the Duke Nukem Forever demo by picking up a copy of the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition for a code to join the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club.

News of the date when we can expect to see the return of gaming’s most macho man is coupled with the release of new screenshots, the official box art, and a very NSFW teaser featuring triple-breasted bosses, girls kissing, and first-person peeing.

I've never played a Duke Nukem game. I didn't even care about DN:F until the thing about 3D Realms being shut down and the stuff leading up to now. The game looks like a lot of fun based on the trailer. Just because of the use of The Prodigy, I'll at least be checking it out, but I'll keep my expectations low.

It's like my childhood is returning! I grew up with this game at a young age, and my dad let me play it because he know I wasn't an idiot and won't take it as real - and he was right! CAPTCHA: THE Dapite. No, captcha, it's not Dapite, it's Duke!

Although its never going to justify the whole developement time ( Although gearbox seemed to have got it together) Forever seems to have really captured duke. i read an article on GR that said Duke as a parody of OTT action games would be awesome, and after veiwing this trailer, i agree

It doesn't look that great graphics and the shooting looks very basic... but this is shaping up to be the greatest video game parody ever haha!
  • HowdyCowboyCheesesBurger0911 - January 21, 2011 10:17 p.m.

This looks awesome, im getting it day one . Why was some stuff pixilated when there was an age gate on the video?

Also, hopefully they'll release a Collector's Edition, that'd be one hell of a "making of' disc.
