Charlie Cox to star in Marvels Daredevil TV series

Marvel is certainly moving quickly on its Daredevil TV series this week. Having installed Steven S. DeKnight as the new showrunner , the studio has now cast Brit star Charlie Cox as the man without fear.

The studio made the announcement soon after the casting rumour hit the internet yesterday evening, confirming that Cox had been cast.

Best known for playing Tristan Thorne in Stardust – and for his supporting role in Boardwalk Empire ’s second and third seasons – Cox will play Matt Murdock, who’s blinded as a young boy.

Imbued with “extraordinary senses”, he grows up to become a crime-fighter called Daredevil, who protects the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York City by night.

Marvel’s first Netflix TV series will air exclusively on the streaming service in 2015, with its first season comprised of 13 episodes.

Cox seems like a perfect fit for the role – he’s recognisable enough in genre fare without being over-exposed, and he seems to know his way around an American accent.

Next up: expect rumours of who’s going to play Bullseye...
