Battlefield 3 headshot: Amazing or lucky? We can't even see the guy...

It never ceases to amaze me just how good gamers can get at their favourite pastime. Take, for instance, this Battlefield 3 player. He scores a headshot from almost a mile away. Sure, YouTube resolution is fuzzier than an actual game, but even at 1080p, we can't even see the guy he's aiming for, let alone pick out his head. Check it out:

Like an accidental wondergoal, of course he's claiming 'played for and got', saying in the description "It's all about range finding, firing 1 shot at the beginning of holding your breath so that you can watch where it lands on your scope then adjust accordingly." Without wanting to sound like Bill & Ted (or, indeed, a Prinny), I totally believe you, dude!

Still, credit where credit's due. A YouTube clip of this quality is definitely worth losing your team game of Conquest for. Let's just hope his teammates don't see this clip...

That's incredible. My longest is roughly 500 and I struggled to get that shooting from the side of a mountain.

    That's impressive. Do it again.

Awesome! This is why all games need bullet cam and theatre mode.

My friend's best was 729, and we all thought that was pretty crazy, this is just insane.
  • Cwf2008 - December 22, 2011 3:13 p.m.

Now I'd like to see them pull this off in real life

Not to sound like one of those pricks that thinks being good at an FPS makes me something, but I've scored 1000 meter consecutive headshots with my rocket launcher in Bad Company 2 this isn't really impressing me. But I can't prove it because I'm not one of those losers that records themselves playing to impress(...someone?) with their 133t skills. If I ever do please refrain from ostracizing me, my brain would already be doing the work for you.

You could call it requiring luck on top of skill, but the "luck" really depends on how smart the target is. The only person you could realistically hit like this is: AFK, or another sniper. And that sniper could easily prevent getting killed like this by simply moving a tiny bit between their own shots, because you have to sit still a long time for this to hit you.

I counter snipe all the time. In the new game, most people use a bipod and don't want to move every couple seconds to stay alive. I top 400 meters all the time shooting at people in high places trying to get a better view: the more you can see, the more can see you.

My guess he just kept shooting a spawn point.
  • ThatGuyFromTV - December 22, 2011 8:44 a.m.

huh. I've seen a couple headshots top 1900 meters but they were a bit easier to see cause they had sniper glint, though the glint was only a couple pixels big. That said, this is really only possible on the PC. I use snipers on the 360 and they can't touch the accuracy you can get on a PC sniper.

That was pretty impressive. I don't really use the Recon class but when I do, I use the M39 EMR without a scope. Reminds me of a M1 Garand. Really fun to use and damn accurate.

I don't really use the Recon class, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

I don't really use the recon class, but when I do, I'm Bear Grylls.
