A closer look at the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Special Edition

Still on the fence about whether or not it’s worth paying an extra $10 dollars to treat yourself to the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Special Edition? According to Capcom, some retailers have already stopped accepting pre-orders for the upcoming fighter, which is scheduled to release on February 15. But of course, the Capcom store has plenty of Special Editions in stock.

Above: A closer look at the Special Edition for Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds

Above: You’ll also get this Shuma Gorath shirt with extra tentacles for free if you pre-order the regular or Special Edition version from the Capcom store

The Special Edition will include a free month of access to Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited, a steel book with game art, a selection of fan art, and an exclusive 12-page comic book. Penned by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, the prologue will set the stage for the games-versus-comics mash-up. Also included are DLC characters Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath.

If you pre-order the game from GameStop, you’ll get some MvC3 decals. But pre-order from the Capcom store, and you’ll receive the Shuma Gorath shirt pictured above. Even if you just pre-order the regular version, you’ll still get the shirt for free.

Would the UK see the same sort of deal? It does look like it's worth it.

  • mattdark - January 15, 2011 9:42 a.m.

Shame they never released the damn special edition in europe, or I would have ordered it myself...
  • Jdub9064 - January 15, 2011 6:43 a.m.

Thank you, I canceled my amazon order and placed one with capcom. I also got a discount code for registering so I saved money too, free shirt and cheaper price=Win!
  • Darkhawk - January 15, 2011 6:20 a.m.

Who the hell cares about Shuma-Gorath? I don't get it; obscure character, unoriginal design (How many tentacle/blob things have there been in fighters now?)
  • NightCrawler_358 - January 15, 2011 6:01 a.m.

Well, I guess I'll be preordering on the Capcom store.
  • AdonisX82 - January 15, 2011 4:38 a.m.

It does'nt matter whether I would or not (probably not as i'm not interested in any of that stuff, but for $10 i'd say it's worth it if you were) cause my PS3 GOT THAT G0D DAMMED YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH ! ! ! SOB WHINE CRY I did'nt realize it as coming out so soon. I thought it was releasing in march / may. Oh well, besides the fact my PS is toast, I actually don't know if I'd want to get this game. So far, few of the new charecters really seem interesting to me (still waiting for them to announce, though i guess they won't bother now being so close to release, Vanessa from P.N 0.3 and Ken from Street Fighter 2010. I also think Krauser would be great, but HIGHLY unlikely given the amount of resi charecters already in) And besides Iron man, the other charecters i enjoyed using in two (b.b hood JUGGERNAUT, ruby heart) don't seem like they're going to make it. it looks SLOW. i don't know...

I am incredibly tempted to get this version. I'm admitively more of a comic book fan than a gamer but still. This stuff looks pretty good.
  • raisonbread - January 15, 2011 3:56 a.m.

    I'd rather pre-order F.3.A.R. creepy alma here I come...
  • NeoKef - January 15, 2011 3:43 a.m.

Sorry, but I'm planning to play on day 1 and I don't want to spend extra money on shipping. Still, nice shirt.
  • TDUBBS - January 15, 2011 3:38 a.m.

Already got my PS3 copy of the special pre-ordered. Can't wait to break it out for the 24-hour marathon this year

I think I just want it for the steelbook case honestly....
  • MrSuitMan - January 15, 2011 2:59 a.m.

I wonder if I can should cancel my Amazon preorder to get that shirt. Is it worth free shipping?
  • Fro4show - January 15, 2011 2:54 a.m.

ehhh... im a bigger MvC fan than I am a Marvel fan. That looks to me like Marvel fanservice. AKA not for me. Ten dollars towards the many other early 2010 releases.
