Young Han Solo Alden Ehrenreich confirms Chewie will appear in Star Wars spin-off
Those involved with the untitled Star Wars Han Solo movie have remained tight-lipped about the 2018 movie – until now. Young Han Solo Alden Ehrenreich has revealed that Chewbacca will appear alongside Han Solo and Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian.
“I can say that Chewbacca’s in the film, although I know that’s not a huge spoiler.” Ehrenreich told Variety.
Don’t get cocky, kid. It may not be a huge spoiler but it’s still nice to know everyone’s favourite furry sidekick will feature.
But what will a younger Chewbacca look like? Will he go through an awkward phase of terrible haircuts and double denim? Ehrenreich doesn’t think so: “He’s as much younger as I am in the film.” But Ehrenreich points out Chewie has been round the intergalactic block, “So, I think he’s like 190 - or something -years old. I don’t think there’s a huge growth spurt for him from 190 to 210, so he’s probably about the same height.” Same old slightly-pissed off Chewie? Count us in.
However, the Han and Chewie origin story may take a backseat to Han’s adventures with partner-in-crime Lando Calrissian.
Ehrenreich is clearly looking forward to Han teaming up with Lando, played by Community star Donald Glover. “I’m allowed to say that I’m really excited about Donald Glover’s casting,” he says. Glover's mum might be worried that he might "mess it up", but Ehrenreich has no such fears. “I think he’s going to be great in the role because he’s such a talented and interesting guy.”
Aww, the galaxy’s greatest bromance has started already.
